An optical patch cord is a segment of optical cable terminated on both sides with optical connectors. The cord can have either identical connectors at the ends or different types of connectors. Optical patch cords (also known as patch cords) come in various lengths. Custom production of cords of arbitrary length up to several dozen meters is available upon request. Standard patch cord lengths range from 1 to 5 meters. Patch cords differ by the following characteristics: - connector; - polishing type; - fiber – multimode, single-mode; - connector type – simplex, duplex. A wide variety of patch cord modifications is obtained through various combinations of all these characteristics. UPC is a connector polishing type. It characterizes a nearly flat connector. A connector body with this type of polishing is most often blue in color. The LC connector is connected to the optical socket linearly and is held in place by a latch. Thanks to its compact dimensions, an LC/LC type patch cord allows the connectors to be placed as closely together as possible.
