Optical patch cord is a length of optical cable terminated on both sides with optical connectors. The cord can have both identical connectors at the ends or be equipped with different types of connectors. Optical patch cords (another name for patch cords) have various lengths. Custom production of cords of arbitrary length up to several dozen meters is possible upon request. Standard patch cord lengths range from 1 to 5 meters. Patch cords differ by the following characteristics: - connector; - polish type; - fiber – multimode, single-mode; - connector type – simplex, duplex. As a result of various combinations of all characteristics, many modifications of patch cords are obtained. UPC is a connector polish type. It characterizes a practically flat connector. Connectors with this polish type are most often blue in color. An optical connector is terminated on both sides with connectors of the same type (SC/UPC). The connector body is made of plastic and is rectangular in cross-section. Connection and disconnection of this connector are performed linearly (the connector is fixed in the socket using a latch).
