• PURPOSE Electronic ballast units (EB) are designed for connecting fluorescent lamps to the mains. • SCOPE OF APPLICATION Used for connecting fluorescent lamps of a specific wattage corresponding to the EB model and type in order to ignite and subsequently maintain the glow discharge in the lamp bulb, as well as to limit the current. • PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION The principle of operation of the electronic ballast is based on an electronic circuit that supplies the lamp with high-frequency current. To start the lamp, high voltage is generated on the cathodes, sufficient to ignite the lamp. The EB provides a 20-25% reduction in energy consumption compared to an electromagnetic ballast, has a higher power factor, eliminates visible lamp flicker, ensures more successful ignition at low temperatures, and does not make noise during operation.
