The water sensor is designed to monitor the presence of water on a heated surface. It is used in conjunction with an electronic temperature controller in infrastructure heating systems. The water sensor detects precipitation in the form of rain. It operates similarly to a precipitation sensor but does not have a heated pad. When water hits the contacts, the circuit closes and the temperature controller detects the presence of water.
