Optical patch cords are used for switching optical communication lines and connecting them to network and measuring equipment. An optical patch cord is a fiber-optic cable terminated with an optical connector; if the cable is terminated on only one side, this type of patch cord is called a pigtail. An optical connection cord is a patch cord terminated on both sides with the same type of connectors. Like a pigtail, it can be single-mode or multi-mode.
