Optical fibers are loosely placed in a central optical module. A protection layer of fiberglass rods is spirally applied over the optical module. The free space in the optical module and between the rods is filled with hydrophobic gel. An outer sheath made of a halogen-free, flame-retardant, low-smoke polymer composition is applied over the armor. Maximum allowable tensile strength during installation is 8 kN.
