Shielded patch cords are used to connect network equipment at workstations and in telecommunications cabinets. They support data transfer speeds up to 1000 Mbps depending on the protocols used. The patch cord jacket is made of halogen-free, flame-retardant material. A patch cord is a segment of multi-core shielded 4-pair cable, with 8P8C (RJ-45) standard connectors crimped on each side with molded boots to prevent oxidation.
