The penetration consists of tightly packed pillows, whose shell is made of fire-resistant fabric, and contains a thermo-expanding filler inside. Under the influence of high temperature (>200 °C), fire-resistant pillows swell by more than 40 % of their original volume, thereby forming a tight seal that prevents the further spread of open flame and heat.
