The undervoltage release (UV) causes the circuit breaker to trip when the voltage at its input drops to 70% of the nominal value, and also prevents its switching on if the voltage in this circuit is less than 85% of the nominal value. The main purpose of the undervoltage release is to disconnect electrical equipment when the voltage drops to an unacceptable level for it. The undervoltage release can also be used as an independent release if a push-button switch with a breaking contact is connected in series to its control circuit. During a short-term opening of the push-button switch contact, the undervoltage release will trip the circuit breaker.
