Control relay R-45M is an electromagnetic DC relay. The relay units are mounted on an insulation panel. The magnetic system is of the valve type, consisting of a yoke, a coil with a core, and a moving armature. Two lever contacts are fixed on the armature. The armature also acts on the bridge contact traverse, ensuring their switching. Relays R-45G have minor structural differences from R-45M relays. The R-45M control relay is made with a voltage coil and is intended for use as a control or intermediate relay. The R-45G grounding relay has a current coil and a mechanical latch that holds the relay in the switched-on position after the coil circuit is broken. The latch is released manually. The relay trip current is adjusted by changing the tension of the return spring using an adjustment bolt.
