A grower washer is made in the form of an elastic spring coil with straight edges (form B). It provides a locking effect for the bolted connection, preventing it from loosening under the influence of small vibrations. According to DIN 127, single-turn spring washers are produced for thread diameters from M2 to M36. This standard corresponds to GOST 6402-70. The material used is spring steel, which may have a protective coating – zinc, chrome, etc. Elements are selected according to the fastener diameter. Manufacturers specify two diameters – internal and external, for example, 4.4 and 7.6 mm respectively. The internal diameter must match the diameter of the bolt or stud with which the washer will be installed. The external diameter is selected for the nut and can be larger than its diameter. Also, elements differ in thickness: the ring can have a thickness of 0.9; 1.6; 2 mm, etc.
