Individual voltage indicator SNI 6-10E wrist-mounted (hereinafter the indicator) is designed to warn personnel working on overhead power lines (OHL) about being in a potentially dangerous zone due to approaching wires under 6-10 kV voltage at a dangerous distance: less than 2m; the sensitivity of the indicator is such that voltage signals are only issued when the operator approaches the OHL wires (when climbing OHL poles) and are not issued when the operator is on the ground.
The indicator is also used for work in 6-10kV switchgear, where the indicator triggers only when the cell door is open.
Operating distance: not less than 1m from the live part.
Indicator sensitivity (operating distance) is the distance between the indicator attached to the electrician's workwear and the nearest live wire at which an intermittent light and sound signal occurs.
At a line voltage of 6-10kV, the operating distance is no more than 2m and no less than 0.6m.
Indicator supply voltage: 3V
Current consumption in standby mode and in alarm mode: 4μA
The principle of operation of the indicator is based on the induction of a potential difference between two electrodes placed in an electric field. The indicator is made in a dielectric case, the back surface of which has a clip used to attach the indicator to workwear. The clip simultaneously serves as the power switch and the self-test switch of the indicator. The low operating current of the electrical circuit allows the indicator to be used without replacing the battery for the entire service life.
The indicator turns on automatically when attached to the wrist. At this time, the indicator emits a short light and sound signal confirming its activation and operability, i.e., it has a self-control function.
The indicator works reliably on any supports: including reinforced concrete, with grounding descent, cable entry, line disconnector, etc.
A "DEAD ZONE" of the indicator is possible when the electrician approaches parallel to the axis of the pole at a distance of less than 0.2 meters.
When deviating by an angle of more than 10 degrees or moving away from the pole by a distance of more than 0.2 meters, the "DEAD ZONE" disappears.
The indicator has dynamic sensitivity, i.e., as it approaches live parts under voltage, the frequency of the light and sound pulses of the indicator increases.
The indicator allows for a preliminary assessment of the presence of voltage on live parts at distances between them and the operator significantly exceeding safe distances; this is carried out at the operator's request by closing the contact with the hand and directing the indicator towards the live parts.
