UZIP-20 is designed to protect lines from impulse overvoltages. A non-linear surge arrestor, consisting of the required number of varistors, discharges the impulse to the grounded parts of the supports by reducing its own resistance after exceeding the set voltage threshold, thereby preventing the destruction of the wire insulation. Installation is performed using RPN 150 branch clamps. The output from the surge arrestor is connected to the grounded support traverse via a shunt.
