• PURPOSE
Circuit breaker is a mechanical switching device capable of making, carrying, and breaking currents under normal circuit conditions, as well as making, carrying for a specified time, and automatically breaking currents under specified abnormal circuit conditions, such as short-circuit currents.
• APPLICATION
Used in low-voltage electrical networks for switching and protecting electrical networks and devices for various purposes.
• PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
Switching on-off is performed by a lever; wires are connected using bolt or screw connections. The circuit is switched by moving and stationary contacts. The moving contact is spring-loaded; the spring provides the force for rapid contact separation. The trip mechanism is actuated by one of two trip units: thermal or magnetic.
