Flexible KG, KGVV and KGTP cables: purpose and selection

The flexible cables of the KG series are designed for connecting mobile electrical equipment. Stranded conductors of flexibility class 5 provide high flexibility and resistance to repeated bending.

Grades of flexible cables

KG is the basic flexible cable with rubber insulation. Decoding the marking: K — cable, G — flexible (gibkiy). It is used to connect welding machines, portable power tools, extension leads and mobile machinery. Operating voltage up to 660 V.

KG-KhL is a cold-resistant flexible cable for operation at temperatures down to -60°C. The special frost-resistant rubber does not lose its flexibility in severe cold. For construction sites and industrial facilities in the Far North.

KGTP / KGTP-KhL is a cable with insulation and a sheath made of thermoplastic elastomer (TP here stands for thermoplastic elastomer, not a "tropical" version). The material combines the elasticity of rubber with the workability of thermoplastics: easy installation and resistance to oils and chemicals. KGTP-KhL is the cold-resistant version for operation at temperatures down to −60°C.

KGVVng(A) is a flexible cable with PVC insulation instead of rubber. Advantages of PVC: a longer service life and a smaller outer diameter. ng(A) — flame retardant.

KGVVng(A)-LS is a flexible PVC cable with reduced smoke emission. For industrial premises with fire-safety requirements.

KGVVEng(A) / KGVVEng(A)-LS / KGVVEng is a flexible screened cable. The copper screen protects against electromagnetic interference. It is mandatory for connecting electric motors through variable-frequency drives (VFDs) — the screen reduces interference from PWM modulation and protects the motor bearings.
